The Metropolitan Police have issued an update below on the alleged rape of a 15 year old girl in a Romford subway-Saturday 21 June.

Officers have been investigating a report of rape involving a 15-year-old girl that allegedly occurred on the evening of Saturday, 21 June, in the underpass on Cotleigh Road, Romford.

 Detectives have conducted a thorough and detailed investigation, including examining CCTV, forensic analysis and witness enquiries and are satisfied that all lines of enquiry have been explored and there is no evidence of a wider risk to the community.

 The girl and her family have been supported by specialist officers and kept fully updated throughout.

 At this stage we are not seeking to arrest anyone in connection with the incident. Should any further information come to light this will be considered.

 We understand reports of this nature can cause considerable concern, and we want to reassure the community this matter has been taken extremely seriously.

 Over the coming days, local policing teams will continue to maintain a visible presence in the area to provide any support.
