Armed Forces Day Parade makes Havering Proud!
On Saturday 28 June, Havering’s Armed Forces Day Parade took place. Starting from South Street and ending at the Town Hall in Romford, veterans joined our Armed Forces, Scouts and Police Officers to proudly march through the streets of Romford.

This year the parade was led by Bill Gibson-a Royal Navy veteran from the Royal Naval Association. Mr Gibson was the new Parade Marshall who made his debut in Romford. The Deputy Lieutenant taking the salute with Havering’s Mayor, Councillor Sue Ospreay, was Jane Davis. Colonel Jane Davis OBE QVRM TD DL is also a Havering resident.
This year saw a special signing of the Armed Forces Covenant. Havering’s Mayor signed alongside Lorrayn Evason-Goddard-who signed on behalf of the Ministry of Defence and Dr Kullar-Clinical Director North East London signing on behalf of the NHS. Also present were all three Members of Parliament for Havering-Andrew Rosindell, Margaret Mullane and Julia Lopez. GLA Member for Havering and Redbridge Councillor Keith Prince joined local councillors alongside Havering’s Leader and Deputy Leader of the Councillor Ray Morgon and Gillian Ford. Our Police Officers were led by Chief Inspector Routley and all looked very smart.
The parade was led by the band of the Royal British Legion Band who do an outstanding job ever year.
This was an event to make Havering proud and most importantly to remember all those who are serving and have served for our country.
