Dagenham And Rainham MP Pushes Havering Council On Launders Lane-Stating “What’s More Important Rainham Residents’ Health Or Your Local Newsletter?”
Since being elected in July 2024 Margaret Mullane-the Member for Dagenham and Rainham, has been liaising regularly with Havering Council and other stakeholders to find a resolution to the ongoing crisis at Launders Lane in Rainham.
One of the key items on the agenda was a notification system to create a better line of communication between the council and residents when fires break out on the site and pollution is particularly high. This is still yet to be launched.
Margaret told the Havering Daily: “A WhatsApp broadcast channel is a relatively easy system to set up, which was suggested to Havering Council by my office many months ago. We use opt-in broadcast channels which I know can be up and running in a matter of minutes.
“I have been urging Havering Council to set up a system like this since July last year following discussions with the London Fire Brigade and I cannot fathom why it has not yet materialised. Particularly when a general Havering Council WhatsApp channel has now been launched.
“This raises the question of what is more important, the health of Rainham residents or the council’s latest newsletter? As we approach the summer, and the prospect of more underground fires on Arnolds Field looms over my constituents, I know where my priority lies.”
