Romford MP Issues Urgent Plea In Parliament For Queen’s Hospital Funding As Patients Left In Corridors For Hours.
“The situation has led to patients being cared for on trolleys in corridors. I find that unacceptable.”
Andrew Rosindell-Member of Parliament for Romford, has issued a strong plea in the House of Commons for immediate investment in Queen’s Hospital, Romford, citing the worsening crisis in its A&E department where patients are routinely left on trolleys in corridors for extended periods.
Speaking during both Business Questions and Health and Social Care Spending Review Questions, Mr Rosindell stressed that the hospital—serving 800,000 residents across Havering, Barking and Dagenham, and Redbridge—is in urgent need of an upgraded A&E facility.
Earlier this week, he met with the Minister for Secondary Care, Karin Smyth MP, alongside NHS trust chief executive Matthew Trainer to directly raise these concerns. During the exchange, the Minister acknowledged the seriousness of the situation and pledged to work with local systems to improve care.
“The situation has led to patients being cared for on trolleys in corridors. I find that unacceptable, and it is costing my local trust, …, an extra £100,000 a month because of additional staffing needs. Mr Rosindell said.
Mr Rosindell urged the Government to ensure that funding announced in the latest NHS spending review includes a commitment to capital upgrades for Queen’s Hospital.
