Councillor Highlights Importance Of Conservation Areas Across Havering.
Havering is running a series of consultations on the eleven conservation areas across the borough. The aim is to renew these areas and to make sure they are kept as conservation areas and not lost to developers. Not only are Havering Council looking to keep all these conservation areas protected, but they are also looking to increase their size to help enhance the ones in place and ensure are areas are not lost.
Councillor Graham Williamson-Cabinet Member for Regeneration, who is involved in these consultations, told the Havering Daily:
“Without up to date appraisals of CA’s the protections of an area’s historic buildings and character are much weaker. In Romford’s case, given developer interest in the town, we are also proposing an increase in the Conservation Area’s size will enhance our existing protections. We will welcome local opinion on those proposals”.
It is important these conservation areas remain protected, please have your say at these consultations.
