Rainham Conservation Area Gets A Refresh At Rainham Hall.
Local residents including councillors gathered at Rainham Hall on Wednesday 28 of May to listen to Haverings plans to update the Conservation Area Management Plan for Rainham Village.
Residents listened to a presentation by officers from the Council, and then took the opportunity to ask questions. Concerns were raised about the council’s failure to proactively engage with the occupiers of buildings inside the conservation area. Residents also spoke about the benefits of more signs in the public realm, to better explain and publicise the history of the area and the buildings.
Rainham community campaigner Sue Watson took the opportunity to raise concerns about the dilapidated condition of The Bell Inn, which has been vacant for some time. “The Bell features prominently in the village street scene and has many notable architectural features. Hopefully the Council can work with the landowner to ensure it doesn’t fall to rack and ruin”.
Residents wanting to comment on the future of the consultation area can do so at https://consultation.havering.gov.uk/planning/conservation-area-appraisals/ before 9th of June.
