St Alban’s Ward Councillor And Activist Call For Fly Tipping Fines In Hornchurch.
A Local Councillor and a Party Activist have written to Havering Council to ask as a matter of importance if some rubbish enforcement can be carried out as soon as possible in Clifton Road and Malvern Road in Hornchurch.
For the last few months, there has been regular fly-tipping, at the Park Lane end of either Clifton Road or Malvern Road, plus in the old Raphael School Car Park. Angry residents have sent Councillor Judith Holt and Martin Firmstone photographs of and messages about the tipping, which has included mattresses, large cardboard boxes and sacks of rubbish.
The Council has collected these previous fly-tips, but the offender has simply repeated the tipping. However, the last load of fly-tipping has included boxes with a name and address label. As there is now evidence about the perpetrator of this disgustingly anti-social behaviour, Councillor Holt, the Conservative Councillor for St. Alban’s Ward, has requested that immediate action is taken against them.
“These people need to be fined and stopped,” said Councillor Holt. “They are doing this every week. One Clifton Road told me that she worries about the children who have to walk up and down the road to Hylands Primary School. Parents and children are having to walk in the road to avoid the rubbish which, with school traffic about, is dangerous.”
Martin Firmstone added, “The old school car park is now in a right mess. In the words of a resident of Park Lane, it’s like a shopping trolley cemetery. Hopefully, now we have an address, this blight on the local area will stop. There’s no excuse.”
