Special Report: Romford’s Fit4Life Gym: The Wellness Hub Supporting Our Emergency Services and Community
This week, the Havering Daily visited a Romford gym, that is also a fantastic wellness hub offering support for many.
Fit4Life Gym in Romford is more than just a fitness centre — it’s a powerful community hub committed to supporting both physical and mental health. Located on South Street, Fit4Life is proud to serve as a specialist First Responders Zone, offering a range of services that go far beyond the treadmill.
Run by local fitness experts Lee and Charlie, Fit4Life offers everything from state-of-the-art gym equipment to nutritional guidance, mental health support, and yoga classes — all under one roof. Their mission? To be a true community wellness centre, helping ease the pressure on healthcare services by proactively supporting both body and mind.
Lee told The Havering Daily: “We have all the gym equipment needed and personal trainers here. We also offer services to support clinical needs. There are classes tailored for women experiencing menopause, yoga sessions, one-to-one dietary consultations with our health coach, and even access to mental health support.”
But perhaps one of the most unique aspects of Fit4Life is its dedicated support for emergency service workers. As a proud First Responders Zone, the gym has created a welcoming space for our 999 heroes.
“Our emergency workers have incredibly tough jobs,” Lee said. “At Fit4Life, they can train before or after their shift, access nutritional advice for meal planning, join yoga sessions to help them relax, and get mental health support through our partnership with PTSD 999. It’s about time someone catered for their wellbeing — and we’re honoured to do it.”
Understanding that gym environments can sometimes feel intimidating, particularly for those struggling with mental health, Fit4Life also runs a weekly session designed specifically for people experiencing mental health challenges.
“We turn the music down, reduce the noise levels, and offer a quieter environment. There’s access to a trainer if needed and our health coach is available to help with nutrition. It’s a space where people can feel comfortable and supported.”
Fit4Life is helping transform the way Romford looks at health and wellbeing. From menopause support groups to tailored classes and mental health sessions, the team is creating a gym that truly meets the needs of its community.
“This isn’t just a gym,” Lee concluded. “It’s a wellbeing hub — and we’re here for everyone.”
