Relief For Rainham Residents From Traffic Vibrations To Their Homes.

News from the Dagenham and Rainham MP Margaret Mullane.

Long suffering residents of roads off Upminster Road North have received good news following their long campaign alongside Dagenham and Rainham MP, Margaret Mullane.

The combination of poor road surfaces in Briscoe Road, Abbey Wood Lane and Berwick Road and these being on the 287 and 165 bus routes has caused not just noise nuisance but more importantly vibration to homes in the area. Residents brought the problem to Margaret Mullane and her team and they have been doggedly pursuing the issue with Transport for London and Havering Council. 

Despite initially saying that the resurfacing works to the carriageways was not a high priority, HaveringCouncil has now confirmed that works will start in early June.

Margaret told the Havering Daily: “Well done to residents for being so determined and thank you to Havering Council for listening and providing some relief to residents who suffered from this problem for so long. We took up this campaign with TfL and Havering more than two and half years ago.

The vibration to homes was causing real problems to the fabric of the buildings in these roads, this work should stop that problem.

Local residents have been in touch with me and so pleased and relieved that this will now be resolved.”
