Man Arrested For Possession Of An offensive Weapon, Driving Without A Licence And No Insurance, After Deliberately Ramming A Police Vehicle In Harold wood.

A man has been arrested for theft of motor vehicle, failing to stop for police, dangerous driving, possession of class B drugs, driving not in accordance with a license, driving with no insurance, possession of an offensive weapon and ramming a police vehicle. Fortunately no officers were injured.

Yesterday, Thursday 8, May at 18:00, officers from Met Police’s Road and Transport Unit identified a stolen Grey Mitsubishi on the M25 heading towards Romford.

Officers pursued the stolen vehicle towards Harold Wood, where it had purposely rammed police vehicles in order to avoid capture.

 The vehicle was stopped by police using pre-empted tactics on Station Road, Harold Wood.

The occupants from the stolen car decamped and ran towards Harold Wood Station. One man was detained by officers and the other ran onto the tracks.

The trains were heavily disrupted due to this incident, as specialist police units including the helicopter and police dog attended the scene.

One man was arrested for theft of motor vehicle, failing to stop for police, dangerous driving, possession of class B drugs, driving not in accordance with a license, driving with no insurance and possession of an offensive weapon and he remains in custody.

 Enquiries are continuing to identify the second man.
