Netting Danger For Our Wildlife.
A Message From Harold Hill Deer Aid.
At this time of year, young fox cubs leave the safety of their den and venture out into this curious world exploring.Netting in your garden, netting used for goal posts, and discarded netting can be extremely harmful and very often fatal to wildlife.
If you have any netting in your garden, please remove it or lift 30cm off the ground when not in use. Wildlife and entanglements are easily avoided.
Harold Hill Deer Aid have attended four entangled Fox Cubs within the last 24 hours. The poor cubs were so tightly constricted, and freeing them was a challenge.
One pair were entangled together, one held by its torso and legs the other by its throat and front left leg.
Thankfully, the amazing Shantel freed them in enough time to be treated by the invaluable South Essex Wildlife Hospital.
Many sadly lose their poor little lives before they have even begun. It’s heartbreaking to witness and so unnecessary. We also have one of our young bucks with netting wrapped around his antlers.
We are, of course, doing all we can to free him.He is just being a tad difficult and evading our attempts at the moment.Of course, Harold Hill Deer Aid will keep trying to help him.
At this time of year, the fallow shed their Antlers, so this may happen before we get the chance.
Should you ever find an animal, please DO NOT release them yourselves.
