Police make arrests after travel card fraud uncovered in the heart of Romford.

Yesterday in Romford Town Centre, three women were arrested following a routine stop and search operation by local officers — a move that quickly turned serious when they were found in possession of multiple travel cards not registered in their names.

The stop took place during a planned patrol in the town centre, where officers have been actively monitoring for suspicious or fraudulent activity.

After being questioned at the scene, two of the women were issued with official police cautions, acknowledging their involvement without further court proceedings.

The third woman remains under investigation, as enquiries continue into the origins of the travel cards and whether additional offences have been committed.

The investigation is ongoing.
