Why Our Justice System Encourages A Complete Lack of Respect For Police Officers.
We will get to a point where there will be next to no police officers left due to this despicable ongoing narrative that is actively destroying the morale of officers.
On Wednesday 26 March a pro Palestine supporter who spat in the face of two police officers, walked free from court after claiming that she had aimed her spit at the counter protesters behind.
Jamila Zadran said her vile spit had been aimed at those at a counter protest and not indeed the two officers directly in front. She told the court that she was intimated by counter protesters and that due to her intimidation, she chose to hurl a mouth full of spit at them.
The two officers were indeed the ones in front of her.
Zadran admitted the two counts of assault on the emergency service workers, however, stressed it was an accident and walked free with fines and community service.
In 2022 a man who had 161 previous convictions, attacked three police officers in Suffolk and received a not guilty verdict because there was no barrister available.
In April 2021 a man who put a police officer in hospital by repeatedly striking him over the head with a baton, walked away from court with a suspended sentence. The assault happened in Gosport Hampshire, where Matthew Wagstaff was handed out an 18 month suspended sentence and walked free from court. The officer received multiple cuts and abrasions and needed hospital treatment.
The list of these weak or no sentences are numerous and show a complete lack of respect for those who repeatedly put their lives on the line for ours.
The ongoing anti police narrative reaches new levels everyday. A justice system that shows this total disrespect for police officers contributes to a belief that our officers, despite the incredible work they do, are totally worthless.
It needs to be acknowledged that policing is one of the most challenging roles possible and that our society has become unruly and violent, especially towards those in uniform. People frequently criticise forces for not having enough police officers. Recruitment is low-any guesses why? Who indeed would want to embark in a role that is already fraught with danger and then knows that if anything horrendous should happen-they would not be supported by a justice system that ultimately should call out the actions of those intent on specifically harming emergency service workers?
We know there are many incorrect issues with police forces up and down the country. We also know that there are those who should not be wearing that uniform. However, there are thousands of fantastic police officers across the country, that do a truly remarkable and ultimately life saving role in our community.
We will get to a point where there will be next to no police officers left due to this despicable ongoing narrative that is actively destroying the morale of officers.
It is time now, that someone, somewhere steps up and starts to support our frontline officers and actually sees the horrendous situations they are left to deal with and begins to support them against the tide.
For those criticising, take the time to do a ride along with these officers and see for yourself what they deal with daily.
Much respect to those who risk their life for us each day.
