Havering has witnessed scenes of awful unrest and violence that left police officers injured and youths stabbed in Elm Park over the weekend.

Residents living on Maylands Avenue and neighbouring roads dealt with two hours of complete chaos as a sixteenth birthday party descended into violent scenes as youths, some armed with knives and machetes, gate crashed the party.

A video shared by the Havering Daily showed youths entering Elm Park Primary School hall and begin attacking those inside. Neighbouring homes heard the screams and saw youths running scared from the hall onto the streets.

Two police cars were first on scene and had to deal with between 50-60 youths, some of whom came armed with knives and machetes. Youths attacked officers, including females who chose to scream into police officers’ faces and be aggressive towards them.

Fighting continued across the area as further police units arrived including the dog section that quickly made an impact and helped arrest and disperse youths.

Locals living on Maylands Avenue were left to clear the streets in the aftermath of two hours of lawlessness. The street was left with gas canisters, broken bottles and knives discarded into the front of people’s driveways.

Information provided to the Havering Daily states that despite youths coming from across London to join in the violence, members of a gang from Harold Hill were present.
