‘Residents Will Confirm That The Water Supply Was Shut Down Outside Of Agreed Hours Leaving Them In Limbo Without Water’.
Beam Park Councillors Hit Out At Clarion for leaving Orchard Village residents without water.
Ward councillors for Beam Park that covers the Orchard Village estate, have been working tirelessly to help resolve the ongoing water issues residents living on the estate have faced. Councillors Trevor McKeever and Matthew Stanton have been working with residents living on the estate since the issues began. Residents have faced water supply problems, including being left without water for 24 hours.
The Beam Park councillors told the Havering Daily:
“Whilst we do not want to get into he said she said with the Clarion press statement, residents will confirm that the water supply was shut down outside of the agreed hours, thus leaving residents in limbo, as to when the water supply would be reinstated.
The facts are that works were to take place between 8am and 5pm as per Clarions letter to residents, when the water was off, outside of these hours the residents were left in limbo with no communication from Clarion as to when the water would be reinstated.
OFWAT the water regulator states that 10 liters of water per person should be issued per 24 Hours in the case of loss of supply.
Not all residents received their allocation of water, I personally advocated to Clarion for one resident who had not received any water, he finally received his water allocation late Tuesday afternoon, residents again state this was not an isolated account.
With regards to the amount of time the water supply was off, in total for 25 1/2 hours.”
Posted on social media, these are actual residents experiences.
Happens every time ! Put up and shut up ! The water came on at 8pm last night and just after 12 it went off again ! Until the next time people
Been like it for 10 years or more and the same thing will happen again
When tenants rang last night to report no water Clarion didn’t know what work was being carried out. This is the letter that Clarion issued stated that ATAC Solutions were carrying out the work. They should have a list of contractors
I’ve been over to clarion/atac to speak to them! They were useless!! I’ve told them you’ve left 100’s of family’s without running water for 24hrs. People can’t shower, flush their toilets or anything
Why do we need to ask they should be coming round afternoon time and bring water there some people with kids that need water to flush toilet ,never you mind cooking or drinking.
It’s been off all night! I called clarion last night out of hours at like 8ish, they then told me, it’s not our problem, call the water people, no its not our problem call clarion back! No one has a clue what’s going on! And now we’ve been without water yet again! It’s supposed to be off between 8am-5pm yet that never happened! I’m nearly out of bottled water already on day 1! This is meant to be going on for 3 days!
Still off now – have no water to flush toilet or take meds . Let’s be fair we all knew it wasn’t going to be smooth sailing never.
As you can see from the above the experiences of residents differ from Clarion’s statement.
We as councillors would like to move this forward and not be involved in semantics.
Could we suggest that Clarion meet residents and Councillors before the next planned shutdown?
Both councillors are happy to facilitate this meeting.
