Dedicated Work By Police Sees Another Prolific Shoplifter Issued A Criminal Behaviour Order And Jailed.
Jerome Constance, 43 was arrested and charged with numerous shoplifting offences committed in Dagenham in 2024. Constance is a prolific offender in the area with a long history of theft related offences. Officers worked with partners and the community to identify him as a key offender in the area.
On 7, February this year, Constance was issued the CBO at Barkingside Magistrates Court, which will remain in place for a year. He was also sentenced to four weeks imprisonment and fined £85.
PC Jones from the Barking Riverside team said:
“ Local officers are taking a proactive approach to targeting offenders and working with partner agencies to secure support.
Tackling shoplifting and anti-social behaviour remain top priorities, as we know it can have a serious impact to our community and local businesses.
I hope we can continue to create a safer community, together.”
CBO Conditions
The defendant must not:
1. Attend Merrielands Retail Park including Asda and the car parks of the shops as shown in excluded zone map (Merrielands) other than in a moving mode of transport provided by TFL or private hire vehicle or for pre-arranged medical/legal/CGL appointment.
