The Ship Community Cafe Celebrates Their Second Birthday As Cafe Users Speak Of Extraordinary Difference It Makes In The Community.

The Ship community cafe in Rainham celebrated their second birthday yesterday with a free lunch of fish and chips and of course, a very special birthday cake alongside a Rainham based quiz!
The team made lunch for twenty four people who all enjoyed the quiz and company.
A male cafe user told staff at the cafe that when he first started to come in he was in a very dark place, but with the compassion and companionship he found with the staff at The Ship, it helped him to move on. Sadly the man is leaving the area soon, but has told the four ladies that he will always remember them as they were there when he needed them the most.
Councillor Jackie McArdle who is one of the four ladies in question told the Havering Daily: “That is why we do what we do.”

The Ship and its staff do a truly remarkable job across our borough and it really is people like Jackie, Carol, Debbie and Elaine who help put a smile on people’s faces!
The quiz was so popular that we will be doing them monthly now!
