Following dedicated work by Dagenham Police Officers Saad Ashor, 39, was arrested and charged with numerous shoplifting offences committed in Dagenham in 2024 and has now been handed out a Community Behaviour Order (CBO).

Saad is a prolific offender in the area with a long history of theft related offences. He was identified as one of the main offenders by the local community. By working with the community, local shop workers and business owners, police officers collated enough evidence to apply for a Criminal Behaviour Order to ban him from certain parts of Dagenham. This was possible as a result of joint working with the local Safer Neighbourhoods team, the Heathway team, Project Adder and LBBD partners.

On 24, January 2025, Ashor was issued the CBO at Barkingside Magistrates Court which will remain in place for 3 years. He was also fined £80 and £140 compensation.

PC Jones from the Barking Riverside team said:

“This is another positive result. Mr Ashor’s constant offending has troubled the local community for years. I am sure the local community will welcome this news as they see another prolific offender removed from the area.

Any displacement of offending will be monitored and further action taken. All breaches of CBO’s are stringently enforced with offenders arrested and put back before the court. We will continue to utilise orders such as CBOs to target and disrupt offenders.”
