Yesterday, Rainham Councillors Sue Ospreay and Sarah Edwards joined Lee, also dubbed locally as ‘The Rubbish King’ in a huge clear up of the area.

The councillors donned their litter picks and gloves also joined by Carol and Rob Baker and Councillor Edward’s daughter Dayna, to collect endless rubbish strewn all over the Rainham creekside.

“Rubbish Lee” had already collected an amazing amount with volunteers, that had been collected several weeks ago. However the rest, due to its location it was a hard task to move it. So armed with a hook and tether rope and jumbo building sacks, the team all met up with the king of the bin Rubbish Lee at Rainham creekside.

Quite a beautiful part of Rainham, that would lend its self to a wonderful place for children and families to visit, they worked extremely hard and felt proud that they had given nature back their home and a chance to breathe again.

A whopping 60 sacks of rubbish, four supermarket trollies and baskets, baby buggies, umbrellas and sheets of hard plastic were all removed from the area.

Councillor Sue Ospreay told the Havering Daily: “We all loved working with Rubbish Lee who is a wonderful character with the biggest heart. We are on a mission to clean up other areas in Rainham and and surrounding areas,”
