Beam Park HRA Team members Carol and Rob Baker found a 12-inch black flick knife while litter picking in Passive Close, Beam Park, Rainham. The discovery was made in a children’s play area, raising awareness about the importance of community safety.

Carol and Rob regularly clean the area, contributing to a safer, cleaner community. During this litter pick, they collected dozens of bags of rubbish, including 38 canisters of Fast Gas, commonly misused by young people using balloons.

Carol told the Havering Daily, “We were shocked to find a weapon in a place meant for children. It really brought home the importance of keeping our parks safe. We do these litter picks to protect our community, but finding something so dangerous was a real wake-up call. It makes you realise how crucial it is to keep a close eye on these public spaces.”
