Tackling Shoplifting Is A Priority For Police In Upminster.
Tackling shoplifting across Upminster is a priority for local police officers. Officers have been proactively working with local retailers to tackle the battle against thieves.
PS Sehmby and PC Graham are actively working on tackling shoplifting and have recently engaged in multiple high visibility patrols which target offenders linked to drugs or alcohol. This has included several days of action (Last weekend was one).
This is being completed in combination of joint local authority tasking to support the patrols with enforcement officers additionally. Moving towards the train station and links to subjects using the train lines are in discussion with British Transport Police to complete operations with them at Upminster train station and our policing team hope to have something in place by the end of this month.
Any regular offenders and patterns of offending by subjects are being targeted through the use of CPN/CBO’s to ban individuals from the area. Officers have an intelligence picture which links into joint patrols to target offenders / arrest / charge and put them before the courts. This is in combination of working with the local business to provide reassurance and build intelligence with them and the local community.
Officers are working hard across the area to combat these ongoing issues.
