Wanis International Foods showcased its role as a major world food distributor with national and global reach during a visit by MP Margaret Mullane and Cllr Trevor McKeever on 30th January 2025.

The visit took place at Wanis’ Rainham Distribution Centre, which opened in 2022 on a brownfield site to support the company’s expansion. Employing local people in Havering, Wanis plays a key role in the borough’s economy while distributing food to over 2,500 UK customers and exporting to more than 45 countries.

MP Mullane was welcomed by George Phillips, Wanis Commercial Director, along with Paul Harrison, Head of Community, and Emma Ashton from the Quality Control team.

Her visit coincided with that of Lesley Blowers and John Grant, both Managers of the Mardyke Community Centre, who had come to collect an assortment of Tropical Sun-branded food products donated by Wanis.

Margaret expressed her surprise and delight at meeting the Mardyke centre team, praising Wanis for its ongoing community support.

Tropical Sun has over 740 products from across the world under its brand, and a selection of key items were donated to the Mardyke Community Centre today. Wanis and Tropical Sun have supported the Mardyke community centre for many years, and we are proud of our association and the important work they do”, said Paul Harrison, Wanis’ Head of Community.

Margaret and Beam Park Councillor Trevor McKeever were later given a tour of the state-of-the-art distribution centre by Mark Davy, Wanis Distribution Centre Manager, who explained how the facility serves as the cornerstone of the company’s continued growth.

At the end of the visit, Wanis’ Managing Director, Sanjay Wadhwani, thanked Margaret for her time and support. Lesley Blowers also expressed her gratitude for Wanis’ continued generosity.

Wanis International Foods, is a family business founded in 1964, and is celebrating 60 years in world food sales and distribution. Paul Harrison added, “We take pride in bringing the flavours of the world to Havering and are excited to continue growing from our Rainham site.”
