Harold Wood Teenager Launches Petition To Increase 346 Buses After Nightmare Bus Journeys Making Her Repeatedly Late For School.
A sixteen year old from Harold Wood has launched a petition to ask TfL to increase the number of 346 buses during school times after being repeatedly late to school.
Mia, who lives in Harold Wood but attends a secondary school in Upminster, uses the 346 to go to and from school and despite leaving earlier and earlier, the buses have been a nightmare for her.
She told the Havering Daily: “The 346 runs from Harold Hill To Upminster and is a single decker bus. By the time it gets to us here in Harold Wood, it is always packed the and drivers don’t even stop at the bus stop. The next one takes another twenty minutes to arrive and often that is late too.
“If I use the 256 and 370, that takes even longer and often they are full too. My next option is to get a bus that would get me to Upminster before 8am and I don’t think my school opens that early.”
Mia has launched the petition to see if Transport for London can either increase the number of buses during school hours, or make the 346 a double decker bus to allow more pupils on the bus.
“I have been late six times now since stating school in September. It is really stressful to stand at the bus stop and hope that you can get on on a bus! It is really difficult for pupils like me in Harold Wood to travel to school to Upminster. Our travel options are fairly limited.”
Mia is now getting support from Havering and Redbridge GLA Member Keith Prince.
