Prolific Shoplifter Wanted After Breaching CBO Swiftly Arrested And Convicted.
Elm Park Safer Neighbourhood Team in collaboration with Havering Proactive Team secured the arrest and conviction at Barking Magistrates Court of a prolific shoplifter.
Keith Sears was arrested after being circulated as wanted for breaching his CBO (Criminal behaviour order).
Sear’s CBO conditions mean he is not to enter the areas of Elm Park Broadway and Dagenham Heathway due to his prolific shoplifting. Havering Proactive Arrest Car with Elm Park Safer Neighbourhood Team made proactive search enquires to find, arrest, charge and bring Sears before the court.
On the 24 January he was presented at Barking Magistrates Court and was sentenced to 18 weeks imprisonment.
The sentence handed to Mr Sears shows how effective the use of ancillary orders such as Criminal Behaviour Orders can be.
South Havering Inspector Mark Connolly told the Havering Daily: “We will continue to work with our partners in both Havering council and Barking and Dagenham council to proactively target and disrupt offenders, making our communities a safer place to live, work and visit”.
Elm Park Ward Councillor and Cabinet Member for Enforcement-Councillor Barry Mugglestone told the Havering Daily:
“I like to thank the Police especially the local SNT for dealing with this. I will continue to work with the Elm Park shop managers and shop assistance to reduce shop lifting and targeting the prolific offenders”
