Clear Hold Build Success Continues As Another Prolific Harold Hill Shoplifter Is Handed A Criminal Behaviour Order.
The ongoing success of the Clear Hold Build Initiative running in Harold Hill by our local police officers continues as another prolific shoplifter is handed a Criminal Behaviour Order.
Gary Cook was arrested and charged with numerous shoplifting offences committed in Farnham Road, in November last year. Cook is a prolific offender in the area with a long history of theft related offences. He was identified as one of the main offenders in the area by the local community.
By working with the local community and local shop workers and business owners, officers collated enough evidence to apply for a Criminal Behaviour Order to ban him from this part of Harold Hill. This was possible as a result of joint working with Havering Council.
On Thursday 16 January, Cook was issued the CBO at Romford Magistrates Court which will remain in place for five years.
Acting Chief Inspector Charlie Routley from Havering safer Neighbours said: “This is another positive result as part of the “Our Harold Hill – Clear Hold Build” initiative aimed at making Harold Hill a safer place to live, work and visit. Mr Cook’s constant offending has troubled the local community for years. I am sure the local community will welcome this news as they see another prolific offender removed from the area.
Any displacement of offending will be monitored though our joint CBO Panel with Havering Council and further action taken. All breaches of CBOs are stringently enforced with offenders arrested and put back before the court. We will continue to utilise ancillary orders.”
