Dagenham and Rainham MP Margaret Mullane adds her voice to back the Rainham community stating: “Rainham and Wennington roads must be treated and prioritised in exactly the same manner as all of the rest of Havering.”

A Rainham resident has hit out at Havering Council after the gritting list was released and not one road across Rainham or Wennington was included!

The resident who did not wish to be named-is angry that Rainham is always left behind when it comes to different schemes and never given the same treatment as other parts across the borough.

Margaret Mullane MP told the Havering Daily:

“Rainham and Wennington roads must be treated and prioritised in exactly the same way as all of the rest of Havering. I have this afternoon emailed the Council seeking that assurance and if they are looked at differently, I will demand that the Council reviews its priorities with immediate effect.”

In response-Havering Council officers have assured residents that they are not left behind and told the Havering Daily:

A Havering Council spokesperson said:
“The Council has a strategic winter roads plan in place. This involves the gritting of all major roads across the borough – priority is given to main roads, allowing access for bus routes, emergency vehicles and roads linking motorways and hospitals.
“During periods of severe weather like a heavy snowfall, and once priority roads are clear, the team will look at other roads (side roads) so that scheduled rubbish collections can still take place.

“Rainham and Wennington have not been excluded from our winter roads plan and are gritted in line with other areas across the borough.”
