Armed Police, Response Officers And Firefighters Help Defuse Domestic Incident Where Man Threatens to Burn A House Down In Harold Hill.

Police officers and firefighters worked together to help defuse a potentially difficult situation where a male suffering with his mental health had made numerous threats.

The incident happened yesterday-5 January, on Halisham Road in Harold Hill, just before 7pm.

It is believed the man had made threats to burn his house down and was in possession of gas canisters.

Armed officers, local police response officers and local firefighters worked together to bring the situation to a peaceful resolve where no one was injured.

A spokesperson for the Met Police told the Havering Daily:

“Police were called at 18:46 on Sunday, 5 January to reports of a domestic incident on Hailsham Road, Harold Hill.

Local officers attended initially and were further supported by specialist firearms unit, London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance Service due to threats being made.

Following negotiations, a man surrendered himself to police where he was arrested for GBH, threats to kill and assault on police.  He was taken to hospital for a mental health assessment where he remains.

Another man from the address sustained minor injuries.

A crime scene was put in place but has since been removed.

This was an isolated incident which has been dealt with in partnership with other key partners and we thank them for their assistance.”
