Get 2025 off to a treemendous start by signing up to Saint Francis Hospice’s Christmas Tree Recycling service!

Charlotte Winder from the charity’s fundraising team explains how supporting the fundraising initiative will help people and families who desperately need hospice care.

“We’re delighted our Christmas Tree Recycling service is back for the 7thyear and over four days from Thursday 9th January to Sunday 12thJanuary, our incredible volunteers will be out collecting trees across the following Havering and Brentwood postcodes: RM1, RM2, RM3, RM4, RM5, RM6, RM7, RM11, RM12, RM13, RM14, CM13, CM14, CM15 and CM4 0.

This is a fabulous opportunity to take the stress out of disposing of your real Christmas tree while supporting people at the most difficult time in their lives.

Last year the campaign raised £39,000 and this year our target is £50,000. We don’t charge people for collection, and we do not make any money from recycling or collecting the trees, so we depend entirely on the generosity of donations from our supporters.

Demand for our compassionate palliative and end of life care services is growing and we are working hard to support people with illnesses that cannot be cured as early as possible in their journey. By doing so, people will have the best quality of life and the comfort and care to live as well as they can for as long as they can. We are also there to support their families too.

Over the past 12 months we cared for 2,000 people and families at the most difficult time in their lives. With the support of our wonderful community, we will be there for more people in 2025 and into the future. “

Here are just some of the ways donations can make a difference to people under their care.

£25 – a face-to-face bereavement counselling session

£35 – an hour of care on our ward

£50 – an ultra-sound scan

£61 – an hour of Hospice at Home care

£100 – a senior nurse’s services for one day

Charlotte added: “We’re grateful to Sharp Group for sponsoring our Christmas Tree Recycling service for the second year and to our army of volunteers who give up their time every year to collect and recycle the real Christmas trees. It’s a huge team effort!
