Man Who Entered Elm Park Newsagent Armed With Knife- In Hospital After Fight With Member Of The Public Who Intervened.

A man who entered a newsagent on St Nicholas Avenue, in Elm Park on Monday morning with a knife, is now in hospital after a struggle with staff and a member of the public.

The individual entered the premises just before 7am, armed with a knife as a member of the public intervened to stop the robbery.

The man now remains in a critical, but stable condition in hospital.

A spokesperson for the Met Police told the Havering Daily:

“Police were called on Monday, 30 December at 06:49 to reports of a man allegedly armed with a knife at a shop in St Nicholas Avenue, Hornchurch.

Officers were also made aware that the man had sustained injuries during a reported struggle with shop staff and a member of the public.

Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and found the man unconscious. He was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.”

Enquires into the circumstances of the incident are ongoing. No arrests have been made at this early stage of this investigation.
