Looking To Take Up Running In The New Year? Try Havering 90 Joggers Club.
Havering ’90 Joggers (H90j) are a friendly local running club for adults from age 18 upwards who meet at 7:30pm every Tuesday and Thursday at Two Gables (Upminster Rugby Club), The Pavilion, Hall lane in Upminster.
Their membership is about 200 runners and is approximately 50% male & 50% female from teens to those in their 70’s. Whilst they have some serious runners, most members run for fun, health or just to meet others socially. They also hold other social events, such as a Fine Dining evenings, BBQ and a Christmas party and others throughout the year.
The club have a committee consisting of Chair, Vice Chair, Club Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Secretary, Two Welfare officers – one male & one female, Race Secretary, Social Secretary, Minutes Secretary, Kit Secretary and two Members representatives. They are holding a 10 week “Learn to Run” training course every three months which is ideal for those new to running, and for those who wish to return to running, with an aim for you to achieve a 5k parkrun distance at the end of the course.
The course comprises of two instructor led sessions each week and their next course starts on 14 January 2025. Anyone can sign up by using the form on our webpage under the Learn to Run heading or email headcoach@h90j.org.uk
In addition, Local training runs are 7:30pm every Tuesday & Thursday evenings from the clubhouse and a social run is held every Sunday morning starting at 9am prompt from a variety of venues across the borough, details are on their website calendar.
On their website, you can also access details of the club including how to join h90j.org.uk annual membership costs just £47 and this includes membership of England Athletics which is the Governing Body for the sport of running, this gives members reduced race fees and third party insurance cover.
There is also a members chat page on Facebook where many other social runs are arranged both mornings and evenings, many of our members also attend Saturday morning parkruns at Harrow Lodge, Raphaels Park, Barking and further afield.
The club compete against other local running clubs throughout the year and as a member you will be able to join in these amateur competitions and be able to wear our own club kit in Blue and Yellow, you may have seen their runners about locally.
