Police Clear Hold Build Success Continues Across Harold Hill As Anti Social Behaviour drops By Half And Shoplifting Reduced By 35%.
The police initiative Clear, Hold, Build, was launched last December and has continued its success. The scheme has been implemented through the hard work of local Harold Hill officers led by Chief Inspector Charlie Routley who has worked tirelessly with his officers, the local community, and other partners such as Havering council to tackle anti social behaviour in the area and the ongoing issues of shoplifting that blighted the Farnham Road shops.
· Since its launch police have made 70 arrests for offences including drugs supply/possession, possession of weapons, robbery, assault and theft
· Since launch 16 search warrants have been conducted leading to the recovery of large quantities of drugs, cash and weapons (including the Collier Row Cannabis factory where police located almost £2m worth of drugs, This is still going through court with a trial date set for March next year)
· Overall crime reported in the Clear Hold Build area (map attached) has reduced by 37%. That includes reports of all crime types
· Shoplifting has reduced by 35% overall since launch
· Antisocial behaviour has reduced by 50%
· There has also been notable reductions in crimes such as Drug use, Robbery, Assaults, Knife crime and Burglary
· The newly formed Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) panel with Havering Council has led to successful CBOs being granted against the most prolific offenders in the area, as well as in other areas like Romford, Elm Park and Hornchurch. The CBO panel has now been introduced in Barking and Dagenham and plans are in place to extend this to Redbridge in the new year due to its clear success here in Havering
· Officers rolled out United in Basketball and Football this year in partnership with Havering Council. In total almost 1000 children attended the sessions held during the May, Summer and October half terms. Not only in Harold Hill, but also in other areas across Havering. The plan is to continue this in 2025!
· Police are now applying the learning from this project in other areas like Elm Park, Hornchurch, Romford and Upminster who have all seen similar issues to what we had in Farnham Road before this initiative started.
Well done to Chief Inspector Routley and his officers for this hard work in our community that is making a big difference on our streets.
