Collier Row Christmas Event brings festive cheer with tree lights switch-on
Last night, Collier Row was filled with festive excitement as the community gathered for its annual Christmas event, marking the start of the holiday season.
The event featured a variety of attractions, including fairground rides, animals, and stalls offering seasonal goods, crafts, and treats. Local shops joined in the festivities by giving out stickers to children as part of a special map activity. Once children had visited all the participating shops and collected their stickers, they were rewarded with a free visit to Santa in his grotto, adding a magical touch to the day.

The highlight of the event was the official Christmas tree lights switch-on, which brought the crowd together to celebrate the spirit of the season. This year the lights were switched on by the Mayor of Havering, Cllr. Gerry O’Sullivan, and local Paralympic Gold Medalist Brock Whiston.

With the support of local businesses and the community, Collier Row kicked off the holidays with fun, laughter, and plenty of festive cheer.
Collier Row councillor Jason Frost told the Havering Daily, “It’s fantastic to see the community coming together to celebrate the festive season. Events like this bring so much joy to families and highlight the incredible spirit we have here in Collier Row. A big thank you to Lesley, Julie, and Ella, from the Collier Row Community Group who worked so hard to make today possible.“
