Beam Park Labour Councillors Trevor McKeever and Matthew Stanton were pleased to nominate Lesley Blowers, the manager of the Mardyke Community Centre, for the Freedom of the Borough, which was ratified yesterday evening,Wednesday 4th December.

Lesley has been instrumental in keeping the Centre at the beating heart of what used to be the Mardyke, and is now known as Orchard Village.

“Through upheaval, refurbishment, and pandemic, Lesley has seen it all and kept smiling”, Councillor Trevor Mckeever told the Havering Daily. “There’s no-one more deserving of recognition for their hard work”.

Councillor Stanton was also keen to point out the depth of Lesley’s commitment, he added:“Straight from the Town Hall on receipt of this honour, Lesley went back to the Centre to make sure that everything was ready for a Christmas lunch for local pensioners.”

Residents of Beam Park can find out what’s on at the Centre, or book a space at the venue, on 01708 521936.
