An investigation is under way after a fire broke out at flat on North Street, Hornchurch, on Sunday 1 December.

Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at the flat above shops on North Street.

Most of a three room flat on the second floor of the building was destroyed by fire. One man left before the Brigade arrived and was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service. Another man was treated on scene for smoke inhalation by London Ambulance Service.

The Brigade’s 999 Control centre received their first call to the incident at 1444 and the incident was over by 1617. Fire crews from Dagenham, Romford, Harold Hill and Walthamstow fire stations were at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
