Couple in their 60s threatened with knife by gang of males asking for cigarettes and money on Dagenham Heathway.

A gang of despicable males threatened a a couple in their 60s out shopping at the Heathway in Dagenham on Thursday, 17 October.

The couple were approached by the vile individuals who asked for cigarettes and money. They then attempted to take the lady’s bag. She was threatened with a knife and the man was pushed to the ground and attacked by the group.

The couple were both taken to hospital where they received treatment for their injuries. Fortunately none are thought to be life threatening.

A spokesperson for the Met Police said:

“Police were called at 18:45 on Thursday, 17 October to reports of a robbery at Heathway, Dagenham.

Officers attended. At the scene a couple, aged 60s, had been approached by a group of males who asked for money and cigarettes and attempted to take the woman’s bag.

The female victim was threatened with a knife and the male victim was pushed to the ground and was attacked by the group.

Both received hospital treatment for injuries that were not life threatening.

At this early stage there has been no arrest. Enquiries are ongoing.”
