Police were quick to locate a youth at Brittons park in Rainham who was believed to be robbing children at knife point over the weekend.
Posts on social media had described a youth near the ‘cage’ area who had been seen apparently by a parent robbing children at knife point. The posts described how the youth was robbing younger children whilst in possession of a knife. It also stated how the police attended the scene and then left.
The Havering Daily spoke with the police to gather information on these robberies and was informed that the police did attend after being called and spoke with the person who made the call. No one was actually able to say they had seen the youth with the knife as had been stated.
It was also stated that the youth in question was known to all the other children in the area and had been chatting with them in the park before hand.
The youth was identified quickly by officers and stopped and searched. No knife was found on him. Police carried out further enquiries at the park and have established that no one has alleged any offences to this police at this time.
