Seven people left the building before the Brigade arrived with one person taken to hospital.

Firefighters have tackled a fire at a mid-terraced house on Upminster Road South in Rainham this morning.

A small part of the ground floor was damaged by the fire. Seven people left the building before the Brigade arrived. One person was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service. 

The Brigade was called at 04:46 and the incident was over for firefighters at 05:37. Three fire engines and around 20 firefighters from Wennington and Dagenham fire stations attended the scene.

The road was partly closed whilst firefighters tackled the blaze. Buses were on diversion.

The road has now reopened.
