Romford BID invests in undercover bikes for Romford Town Centre Team.
Romford BID has invested in four bikes from Smyths at The Brewery, to be used by Romford Town Centre police team. This initiative aims to enhance crime response times and is expected to significantly address issues of anti-social behaviour, including theft and drug-related activities in the town.
Sergeant Aaron Harris, from Romford Town Centre team told the Havring Daily: “We use different tactics to combat crime in the town centre. Use of these bikes when we are patrolling in plain clothes will give us the ability to respond to calls faster and will put us a far better position to stop and apprehend criminals. Crime in our Town Centre will not be tolerated and anyone committing crimes against local people, visitors or business will be seeing us soon. We will continue to use every resource available to us to make Romford Town Centre unattractive to criminals.”
Sergeant Aaron Harris added: “On behalf of my team, I would like to extend our thanks to Julie from Romford BID for generously providing the funding for these bikes that will be a huge advantage in fighting local crime.”
Julie Frost, Romford BID Director told the Havering Daily: “I truly hope this initiative helps visitors and our community feel safer, knowing that steps are being taken to address anti-social behaviour and prevent crime. By working together with the local police force, we’re committed to restoring confidence and making Romford a welcoming and enjoyable place to live, work, and visit. A big thank you to Smyths as well for generously offering a discount on the bikes we purchased.”
Manager Daniel from Smyths, Julie Frost from BID, Sergeant Harris and PC Abbey from Romford Town Centre Team.
