Warning to Rainham cat owners as cat returns twice brutally shaved and cut with scissors.

“His body had been shaved so close that they had nipped his skin, he was visibly shaken. He had an upset stomach the day after and was traumatised by the whole incident.”

A Rainham resident has been left angry and disgusted that her cat has twice returned brutally shaved, and without his collar.

Rebecca from Rainham has a fifteen year old cat who after being missing for 24 hours, returned shaved all down his back, stomach and head area and left completely traumatised.

She told the Havering Daily: “It started to happen first back in February. He had his whiskers trimmed and his collar removed. He then returned with his whiskers so short that his face had been cut and he smelt of perfume.

“I was concerned about what was going on and tried keeping him in, but he has always gone out and doesn’t understand why he can’t.”

The shaving then began to get even worse.

“He came back home and I could see that his body had been shaved this time and I was disgusted. I can’t understand why someone would do this.

Then Saturday when he returned his head, back and stomach were completely shaven and his collar was missing again. He was missing for 24 hours and when returned he literally came running in, you could see he was upset.

“His body had been shaved so close that they had nipped his skin, he was visibly shaken. He had an upset stomach the day after and was traumatised by the whole incident.”

Rebecca doesn’t understand why someone would do such a truly horrid act to a defenceless animal.

“He is 15 years old and loves being out in his garden. Now, he is being kept indoors and if he should ever go out again he has a tracker attached to his collar to stop this happening.

“It is really disgusting, I can’t understand why someone would do this. You could see from his body who ever has done this has used clippers and scissors to cut his fur and that they would have had to force him down to shave him like this. WHY do this?”.

This awful act of cruelty on a poor defenceless animal has angered the local community and left them bewildered why anyone would want to be so wicked to such an innocent being.
