Youngsters with burning ambition can sign up to this FREE Fire Cadet Course!

Havering Fire Cadets, based at Hornchurch Fire station, are looking for young people aged 13 -17 who are interested in learning the skills to become a firefighter, by taking part in the London Fire Brigade’s Fire Cadets programme.

Fire Cadets is a weekly commitment that lasts for one year, Cadets who complete their first year can then also apply to return for subsequent years as an officer cadet.

The cadets get kitted out in full uniform and PPE and work towards learning everything about the Fire and Rescue Service in the Community, whilst building their confidence and making new friends. The young people also take part in fundraisers/social action projects throughout the year and are invited to many prestigious events to represent London Fire Brigade. Not many young people are able to list London Fire Brigade on their CV but this course can provide them with valuable personal skills that employers and education providers will love.

Fire Cadet Coordinator Lucy Plummer said: “Watching young people develop their self-confidence and learn new skills is always rewarding, and to be able to do that on a working fire station is even more exciting. Those applying do not need to be particularly physically fit or have any special skills, just a willingness to learn something new and work together as part of a team, it’s a fantastic opportunity for them.”
