A piece of street art depicting three ostriches on a billboard in Gidea Park left Havering residents and journalists wondering if indeed Banksy had visited our borough yesterday. Sadly, he had not. However, the new piece of art at the start of Crossways did manage to brighten up people’s day.

Just after 9am the Havering Daily joined mainstream media journalists in Gidea Park to see the artwork. Three ostriches- of whom two have their head buried, have been sprayed on a large billboard at the start of the Gidea Park road. Passers by stopped, took pictures and soon, many members of the community came to see the intriguing street art.

Sadly, we know it is not a Banksy, but it has put a smile on many people’s faces after a pretty long and challenging summer. It was after all, just a plain billboard that now has street art on it. Whoever has the claim to fame has managed to cheer up the local community with their art work.
