United in Basketball and Football with Havering Police continues its success in Harold Wood.
United in Basketball and Football has been running as part of “Our Harold Hill” Clear Hold Build Initiative by Havering Police. The Harold Wood community had approached the local neighbourhoods team about the possibility of doing their own sessions.
After meetings and discussions with Nicola Simmons and Harold Wood Parks, funding was given by the parks team to put this session on with the aim of providing sport to the youngsters in the community .
The event on Wednesday 7 August at Harold Wood Park saw over 70 children attend where they engaged with coaches learning brand new skills and worked with other children in teams and small groups.
PC Harley quote
“The event went brilliantly, with over 70 children attending which is a testament to the joint working by the Harold Wood Safer Neighbourhood police team, Nicola Simmons, Lauren, Harold Wood Parks Team, First Touch Sport and BAD THUNDER. This was a fantastic start to the Harold Wood Event and I can only see this project growing in the community helping us as a policing team build a rapport with our community and build good relationships with our younger community through sport.
“I’m extremely thankful to Nicola Simmons and the Parks team for making this happen and bring the United in basketball project to another ward as well as the Harold Wood SNT team PCSO Parrott ,PC Evans and PC Joy for their hard work throughout the day which makes days like today possible “
United in Basketball and Football will continue to run across havering, Harold Hill and Harold Wood throughout the summer .

Brilliant day!! Well done – Just to clarify funding was provided by the Friends of Harold Wood Parks – a voluntary group -not havering council parks dept!! Havering council do not have the funds to fund these events in Harold Wood.
