A retail worker in Dagenham was taken to hospital yesterday, Wednesday 31 July following an altercation with a customer that saw him sprayed in the face with an unknown substance.

The incident happened just before 4pm at a shop on Oxlow Lane after reports of a man having an exchange of words with a member of the shop. The man left the store and then returned to spray the shop worker in the face.

The retail worker was taken to hospital where his injuries are not believed to be life changing.

A spokesperson for the Met Police told the Havering Daily:

“Police were called at 15:49 on Wednesday, 31 July to reports of an injured man at a commercial premises on Oxlow Lane in Dagenham.

Police, London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade attended.

At the scene, a member of store staff had been involved in an altercation with a customer.

The customer allegedly left the store and returned shortly after, spraying the victim with an unknown substance before again leaving the venue.

The injured man was taken to an east London hospital where his injuries were not life-threatening.

Enquiries are under way to identify and apprehend the suspect.”
