Bereaved mum donates life saving bleed kits to Harold Hill in bid to stop knife crime.
Sue Hedges from the Ricky Hayden Memorial joined members of the Harold Hill community to donate two life saving Daniel Baird bleed kits yesterday, 23 July.
Sue, who lost her son Ricky Hayden to knife crime in 2016, joined local barber and community heroes Simon Ford and Jan Sargent at the Hilldene shopping centre to hand over the bleed bags.
These bags are proven life savers in our community.
Sue told the Havering Daily: “We know the Daniel Baird bleed kits save lives, we have seen that many times. They are unfortunately, a vital life saving piece of equipment in our community as we know knife crime is not going away.
“Just last week we saw two knife incidents here in Harold Hill. It is not being addressed and is now completely out of control. Nobody is prepared to tackle knife crime and as such it will just keep on. Children are being murdered regularly on streets and no one does anything about it.”
Simon Ford from the Harold Hill Shop Association told the Havering Daily: “Having bleeds kits in the shopping area gives that added piece of mind if unfortunately an incident happens”
The bleed kits will be allocated at Paul’s Deli and Butcher’s and the Co-Op in Farnham Road.
We would also like to thank Steve from Super Gutter Vac for the donation for the bleed kits.” https://superguttervac.co.uk/
Also present yesterday, was Harold Hill community activist Jan Sargent who told the Havering Daily:
“I would like to express my deepest thanks to Suzanne Hedges and the The Ricky Hayden Memorial for the kind donation of a bleed kit in the Hilldene Shopping Centre area.
The charity is doing amazing things for Havering and surrounding areas in raising awareness of knife crime which sadly seems to be on the increase, and the importance of having the accessibility of a bleed kit should it be needed.”
Thank you to Havering Police officers who also took time to join in.
