A couple from Collier Row are still receiving horrendous homophobic abuse, three years on despite endless calls to the council and being told the individual in question was due to be evicted.

The couple are now being told by council officers that when the noise gets too bad, to just go out of their house.

Mark who lives below the abusive neighbour with his partner, told the Havering Daily: “The council have told us that there is nothing more that can be done and that we have to just deal with the anti social behaviour. An enforcement officer told us just go out when the noise gets unbearable and unliveable.

We are branded racist daily, yet they can call us homophobic names most days.”

The couple have also reported safeguarding issues as a four year old child is left on her own whilst the parent goes out.

Mark continued: “The child was left on her own on two separate occasions. On one occasion the mother went out to buy pizza and coke, leaving the daughter on her own. The police were called and they phoned the mother who had to return, laughing that she had not done anything wrong.

She also calls the police when we clean our windows as she says we are racists and chemically attacking her with window cleaner.”

Some ongoing abuse includes the parent and her other children sticking their middle finger up at the couple’s ring doorbell as well as the daily homophobic abuse.

Both Mark and his partner are now suffering severe stress and depression.

“We are both feeling suicidal now, we hate going home. We have put in so many complaints and yet nothing is being done.”

The couple are being failed repeatedly and three years on have no answers to why their life is being made a misery and the neighbour is still to be evicted.
