Romford BID is excited to announce its first-ever Bike Fest, set to take place at Romford Market Place on Saturday, 6th July, from 10am to 4pm. This free event promises a day full of cycling-themed activities, information, and entertainment for all ages.

Bike Fest will feature thrilling BMX display stunt shows, scheduled at 11am, 12:30pm, 2pm, and 3pm, sure to captivate visitors with high-energy performances. In addition, attendees can enjoy circus-style performances between 11am and 1pm, offering a unique and free entertainment experience.

Romford BID is collaborating with local and national cycling suppliers and organisations to provide a range of services. Doctor Bike will offer free minor bike services and repairs, while Cycle Confident trainers will be available to provide tips and information for those looking to enhance their cycling skills. Visitors can also purchase bike and cycling accessories with special offers and discounts available on the day.

Social enterprise Peddle My Wheels will present its try-before-you-buy bike scheme, giving attendees the chance to test out cycling before making a commitment to purchase. Havering Council will be present to inform residents about local cycling schemes and their healthy weight strategy, highlighting the support available for those interested in getting involved.

From 12pm to 2pm, Romford BID, in partnership with Select a Mark, will offer free bike marking registrations. This initiative, working with UK police forces and the national cycling database, aims to deter cycle theft and help reunite stolen bikes with their owners.

Entertainment will abound throughout the day, with opportunities to see a traditional Penny Farthing up close and enjoy free face painting from 11am to 3pm. Market traders will offer a variety of food, drinks, and treats. Children can also try their hand at making smoothies on a dedicated smoothie bike, with free smoothies available to the first 150 participants.

Secure bike lock-up locations will be available around the town centre, ensuring peace of mind for cyclists attending the event.

Romford BID Director, Julie Frost, expressed her enthusiasm for the event: “We are really excited to be hosting our first ever Bike Fest event this summer. Havering and Romford have an extensive range of cycle paths and scenic routes for commuting, and we hope this event will inspire and encourage more people of all ages to get in the saddle and enjoy cycling. We have lined up a host of great entertainment for all the family to enjoy and we can’t wait to see the performers in action on the day.”

Bike Fest is free to attend and no pre-booking is required. Don’t miss this exciting celebration of cycling in Romford.
