Beam Park Councillors urge New Green residents to report endless issues blighting the area including anti social behaviour.
News from Beam Park Councillors Trevor McKeever and Matt Stanton.
New Green’ should have been a flagship example for a council recommitted to providing housing, but this Administration, like the last one, wants the headlines without having to put in the work afterwards.
Beam Park Councillors Trevor Mckeever and Matt Stanton have been encouraging residents at New Green to report incidences of ASB, and needed repairs, to Havering Council, but they say that there is a lack of urgency in dealing with these issues.
“The car park shutters have never worked properly since people started moving in, the EV chargers have never worked, there are wrongly positioned parking spaces which impede exit from the car parks” said Cllr Mckeever “we have been raising these at monthly meetings with officers, but the buck has to stop with the Cabinet Member.”
Cllr Stanton raised the issue of anti-social behaviour, “it’s one thing to encourage people to report issues, which we have done since the start with residents, but when they don’t see anything changing and the processes aren’t made clear to them, people do give up reporting. That’s not a place we want to get to. The Council needs to show that it’s on the side of residents who respect their surroundings and their neighbours.”
Residents have also voiced their frustrations with the new underground bins at the site, “Someone at Havering must have decided that these were a good idea, but they have been nothing but trouble for residents so far. They break too easily, residents cannot tell when they are full, but because they were on the original plans no one wants to admit it was a mistake” said Cllr Stanton.
“This goes to show that despite frustration with the Tories, the disaffected Tories who call themselves the Resident Association are not committed to housing in a genuine way”, concluded Cllr Mckeever.
