Romford BID is pleased to announce that it will be hosting its first Bike Fest event, which will take place in Romford Market Place, outside Tollgate House, on Saturday 6th July between 10am – 4pm.

Bike Fest will be a celebration of all things cycling and visitors will be treated to a range of themed activity, information and entertainment, including thrilling BMX display stunt shows.

Romford BID is working in partnership with several local and national cycling suppliers and organisations to host the event, which will include free minor bike services and repairs from Doctor Bike and Cycle Confident trainers will be available to offer information to anyone looking to improve their cycling skills.

There will also be a selection of bike and cycling accessories for sale with offers and discounts available on the day.

Social enterprise Peddle My Wheels will be at the event to showcase its flexible and affordable try before you buy bike scheme, which offers people the opportunity to try cycling before deciding whether to commit to purchasing a bike.

Havering Council will be exhibiting on the day and will be offering people the chance to find out more about the cycling schemes they offer in the Borough. Visitors can also find out more about their healthy weight strategy and what support is available to people wanting to get involved.

Between 12pm and 2pm on the day, Romford BID will be offering free bike marking registrations in collaboration with Select a Mark. Working in partnership with UK police forces and the national cycling database, the QR code marking system works to deter cycle thieves and reunite stolen bikes with their owners.

Bike Fest will also include a host of free entertainment and activity for all ages to enjoy including four BMX display stunt shows taking place throughout the day. Visitors can also enjoy a Minibike and Hula Hoop display and experience the chance to get up close to a traditional Penny Farthing.

Free Face Painting will be available between 11pm – 3pm, plus there will be a host of food, drinks and treats on offer from a range of market traders on the day.

Bike Fest will be free to attend and there is no need to pre-book. More details will be announced over the coming weeks so follow Romford BID’s social media channels or visit their website for up-to-date information.

Julie Frost, Romford BID Director said, We are really excited to be hosting our first ever Bike Fest event this Summer. Havering and Romford have an extensive range of cycle paths and scenic routes for commuting, and we hope this event will inspire and encourage more people of all ages to get in the saddle and enjoy cycling. We have lined up a host of great entertainment for all the family to enjoy and we can’t wait to see the performers in action on the day.”
