Havering’s Mayor Councillor Gerry O’ Sullivan joined members of Havering’s BME Forum to raise the Windrush flag outside the Town Hall in Romford yesterday, Wednesday 19 June. Also present was Deputy Lieutenant Nick Brackley OBE, Sidra Naeem and other members of Havering Islamic Cultural Centre and Romford Safer Neighbourhood officers.

Residents heard a very moving tribute and poem read by Serena, a member of Havering’s BME Forum, alongside a speech by Havering Mayor’s.

A beautiful poem by Serena.

That’s the first flag ceremony that Mr Rosindell hasn’t rushed to be photographed at (Ooh, a flag….)

Mind you, I guess Windrush is a bit ‘woke’ for him and given what occurred when Mrs May was PM, it’s probably right that he’s not present.
