Fantastic Junior Citizen’s Scheme held by Havering Police and Havering Council.
This week has seen the start of the Junior Citizen’s Scheme run in partnership by Havering Police and Havering Council. Nearly 3,000 pupils will be attending this scheme held in Romford over the two week period from 33 different Primary schools in the borough.
Yesterday, Wednesday 19 June, Havering’s Mayor Councillor Gerry O’Sullivan joined pupils from Branfill and Engayne Primary School in Upminster, in the fantastic activities being run by our police officers, firefighters, and council enforcement officers.
The event is aimed at all Year 6 pupils who are transitioning from Primary to Secondary school in September.
Activities were held to teach pupils about safety on buses and trains thanks to Safer Transport Officers, the danger of knives, sexual exploitation, not dropping litter by council environmental officers, how to apply for ZIP cards. Firefighters gave talks on what to do in the event of a fire, officers spoke about peer pressure and the impact, the use of different mobile phone apps and hate crime in the community.
This is a fantastic informative event held in partnership between Havering Schools Officers and Safer Neighbourhood Teams, alongside Havering Enforcement Team members Diana Egan and Jane Eastaff.
Well done to everyone involved.
